A map of the encampment of the Allied army at Rheinzabern, under the command of Marshal Gronfeld, 27 July 1710. War of the Spanish Succession (1701-14). Oriented with south to top.

The map is centred on Rheinzabern, showing the western end of the encampment abutting Haina (Hayna 49°07'18"N 08°12'14"E), and the eastern end at Rheinzabern. The troops appear to be encamped in order of battle and the regiments are named. The following settlements are marked: Herxheimweihr (Herxheimweyher 49°09'09"N 08°15'18"E), Herdt (Hördt 49°09'56"N 08°19'35"E), Leimersheim (49°08'00"N 08°21'00"E), Lang Kandel (Kandel 49°04'58"N 08°11'49"E), Jockenheim (Jockgrim 49°05'56"N 08°16'04"E).

Condition: two fold lines, flattened; a tear, top left, has been repaired with a paper strip before the map was laid down on linen. Verso: top left, water-stained patch and shadow from the removal of Cumberland's cipher label.
