A map of the encampment of the Allied army, commanded by John Churchill, Duke of Marlborough (1650-1722), at Grandmetz, 14 September 1706. War of the Spanish Succession (1701-14). Oriented with west to top.

The encampment extended from Helignie (Ellignies-lez-Frasnes 50°40'49"N 03°36'27"E) and Fresne (Frasnes-Lez-Anvaing 50°41'31"N 33°38'08"E) in the north, southwards between Arquinies (Hacquegnies 50°39'11"N 03°35'35"E) and Moustiers (Moustier 50°39'21"N 03°37'10"E), and on between Grandmetz and Thieulain (50°37'05"N 03°36'18"E) to Leuze (50°36'00"N 03°36'00"E) and Chap: Wattin (Chapelle-à-Wattines 50°36'45"N 03°39'17"E).

Condition: at least four fold lines; the central vertical fold has torn and been repaired with two strips of paper pasted to the verso; pin holes at each corner. Verso: induced discolouration; water-stained patch from the removal of Cumberland's cipher label.
