    A map of the siege of Tournai, 28 June-3 September 1709, by the Allied army commanded by John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough (1650-1722) resulting in the surrender of the French-held town on 28 July and of the citadel on 3 September. War of the Spanish Succession (1701-14). Oriented with north-east to top (compass rose shows east to top).

    The attacks were led by Carl Philipp, Reichsgraf von Wylich und Lottum (1650-1719), supreme commander of the Prussian troops, Lieutenant-General François Nicolaas, Baron von Fagel (1645-1718), and Johann Matthias von der Schulenberg (1661-1747).

    This map shows the town and citadel, and the three attacks. The coverage does not include the lines of circumvallation.

    This map has been removed from a volume, made about 1719 or later, of manuscript maps and plans of sieges.
