A view of the attack of a combined Franco-Turkish fleet, commanded by Khair ed-Din (Barbarossa) on Nice. The Ottoman Empire (1500-1606): Conflicts in the Mediterranean (1532-1565): The Fourth War of Francis I and Charles V (1542-1544). Oriented with north to top (‘TRAMONTANA; ‘LEVANTE’ is written to the right edge and ‘PONENTE’ appears along the left edge and ‘MEZZO DI’ at the bottom).

BNF GED-26340(RES) is a hand-coloured example of the original publication, 1543.
