A map of the encampments of the French and British army near Trichinopoly, 1753-4. Second Carnatic War (1749-54). Oriented with west to top.

Dedication: [bottom right, in rococo cartouche, embellished with the artefacts of war and surmounted by the arms of William Augustus Duke of Cumberland:] To his Royal Highness / WILLIAM Duke of CUMBERLAND. / Captain General of his Majesty's Forces &c. &c. / This PLAN is most humbly inscrib'd, / by his most Obedient Servant / John Rocque. / Chorographer to his Royal Highness / the Prince of Wales.

Condition: three fold lines; brown discolouration and offsetting; brittle paper; a piece missing from the bottom centre margin.
